A Metropolitan Police officer has admitted more than 80 sex offences, including 48 rapes against 12 women during two decades at the force, making him one of the country’s worst sex offenders.

David Carrick, 48, a firearms officer in the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, pleaded guilty to dozens more offences, including sexual assault, false imprisonment, coercive control and assault by penetration.

He boasted to women that he had guarded the prime minister. He imprisoned some in a downstairs cupboard at his home, forced them to have oral sex with him and carried out rapes. He described them as slaves, humiliated them and forced them to clean the house naked

A woman told Hertfordshire police that he had attacked her the previous year at a Premier Inn in St Albans while holding her down by the neck, calling himself “a dominant bastard” and making derogatory comments about her

Carrick, nicknamed “Bastard Dave” by colleagues, was allowed to continue working although the Met and three other police forces received 14 complaints about him. He was not suspended until he was finally arrested for rape
